Upmetrics is focused software for a single deliverable. You answer questions, its AI drafts the sections, your numbers become a forecast, and you send a finished document to a lender, an investor or a visa officer. It also sells human services around that, including plan writing, forecast building and help with SBA lending. Nautis has a Business Plans module and a Financial Planner, but those sit among dozens of others and are built with a working company in mind.
So check what you're shopping for. A person with a bank appointment on Thursday has a different problem from a team who need a plan they'll keep using. Upmetrics details here come from its homepage and pricing section, read in October 2026.
Who is reading your plan?
A plan's reader should set the choice of tool. Upmetrics names its audiences as founders seeking funding, loans and grants, consultants and advisors, incubators, business schools, students, and E-2 visa applicants. Its FAQ says its plans meet SBA requirements and banking standards. Those readers want a specific format, with a three-year forecast and statements that tie out.
Nautis doesn't aim its plans at any such gate. Its guide never mentions lenders or visas. A plan there is usually for your team, your board or an investor who asked for one, and it borrows facts from your GTM workspace, financial project and startup profile. Many venture conversations start from a deck instead of a written plan, so check that you need a long plan at all. Our pitch deck guide covers the shorter route.
How drafting works in each
Upmetrics
Every text block on the Lean Canvas, the plan and the forecast inputs has a Suggest Answers button. You can accept or edit one suggestion at a time, or use Accept All Suggestions to fill 13 sections at once. Upload documents for the AI to read, and it adds AI industry research reports. Each plan section maps to a slide, so one click builds the deck from your text.
Nautis
You pick a template, then work through sections such as Executive Summary, Company Overview and Market Analysis. Generate with AI drafts a section and stores the old version so you can roll back. A section-level AI Chat can shorten or sharpen text. Link Projects connects a GTM workspace and financial project, after which Import Data fills matching sections. Score My Plan then reviews each section and gives a number and suggestions. It's solid for a working document, but the guide lists no deck builder and no industry research reports, and generation draws on your AI credits. Plans are also capped per month by plan.
Nautis vs Upmetrics on planning features

| Pitch deck | AI builder from the plan | Not built. Analyzer reviews your PDF |
| Actuals from accounting | QuickBooks Online and Xero, with plan vs actuals | Not in the guide. Startup Health tracks runway from check-ins |
| Strategy tools | Business Model Canvas, Lean Canvas, SWOT | SWOT, GTM Planner, Decision Loop |
| Exports | PDF, DOC, PPT and Excel | PDF and DOCX for plans, Excel and PDF for projections |
| Team access | Up to 5 team members on Premium | 5, 10 or 25 on the whole workspace |

Upmetrics wins most of the rows that concern the document itself. Nautis's different proposition is the last row, and the fact that a plan can pull from records you keep updated for other reasons. If you pair the Financial Planner with Startup Health, you also get a cash view you'd check even without a plan.
Upmetrics pricing, plainly
Pricing is simple. As of October 2026, Upmetrics lists two plans in USD, and it offers a 15-day money-back guarantee instead of a trial. Its FAQ is explicit that it has no free trial. Yearly billing saves 25%.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Per month on yearly billing | What sets it apart |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upmetrics Premium | $19 | $14 | 1 company, up to 5 team members, 7-year forecast, accounting sync |
| Upmetrics Professional | $49 | $37 | 3 companies, 10-year forecast, custom templates, client management |
| Nautis Launch | $49 | About $41 | Whole workspace, 5 team members, 1,000 AI credits |
| Nautis Voyage | $99 | About $83 | Whole workspace, 10 team members, cap table, 2,000 AI credits |
| Nautis Fleet | $129 | About $108 | Whole workspace, 25 team members, cap table, 2,600 AI credits |
If you only want a plan, there is no contest on price. Upmetrics Premium costs about a third of Nautis Launch on yearly billing. A plan made once and then rarely opened shouldn't need a $49 monthly commitment, and Nautis's 14-day trial is too short to count on for writing a full plan unless you're moving fast.
Three people choosing this month
- A cafe owner applying for an SBA loan. Use Upmetrics. Lender expectations are central to what it does, while Nautis is built for startups and its guide doesn't mention them. If the numbers need checking, a person at a local lender or adviser is worth more than either tool.
- A two-person SaaS startup whose board member has asked for a plan. Either works. If they already run on Nautis, the plan can pull in the GTM workspace and the financial project, then lock as Approved so nothing changes before the meeting. If they don't, Upmetrics is cheaper for a one-off.
- A consultant writing plans for six clients. Use Upmetrics Professional, which has client management and company transfers. Nautis has no equivalent.
One more case: if you're not sure you have a business yet, spend an hour with customer interviews before any plan software. Polished forecasts can hide an unproven idea.
Where Upmetrics is ahead
- Purpose. All its features serve one outcome, and it has been at this since 2019, by its own account.
- Live actuals. Connect QuickBooks or Xero and plan-vs-actuals updates without a CSV export. We found no such feature in the Nautis guides.
- A deck from the same source. The numbers on the slide and in the plan can't drift apart, while Nautis analyses a deck you built somewhere else.
- Languages. Its site is available in seven languages, and plans list multilingual support.
- Cost of entry. $14 a month on yearly billing is hard to beat for a single document.
What Nautis adds around the plan
A plan ages quickly when nothing connects it to the work. In Nautis, the Business Plans module shares a workspace with task boards, so priorities in the plan can become work with owners. The Chief of Staff watches pipeline, runway and overdue items each morning, and Investor Readiness counts a business plan under Team & Story. That only pays off if you use the workspace daily, so it is a poor reason to buy for one document.
Honest limits apply. Nautis dates only from a July 2026 launch and has few independent reviews, and its planning module is one of many rather than the company's sole focus. It isn't an accounting system, so numbers in its planner rely on what you enter. For reading a forecast critically, see our guide to reading a financial model.
The short version for your decision
- Upmetrics if the deliverable is a plan and a forecast for a lender, visa officer, grant or investor, or if you write plans for clients.
- Nautis if you need to run a young company, and a plan is one of many things you'd like connected. Pre-seed and seed teams are the likeliest fit.
- Upmetrics first, Nautis later if you need the plan now and the operating system later. You can export the plan and paste what's still useful into a new one in Nautis.
FAQ
Which is better for writing a business plan in Nautis vs Upmetrics?
Upmetrics, for most people who mainly need the document. It has section-by-section AI suggestions, 400+ sample plans, a linked forecast and a deck builder. Nautis Business Plans works well if you already keep your company's data in Nautis.
How much does Upmetrics cost?
As of October 2026, Premium is $19 a month, or $14 a month billed yearly. Professional is $49 a month, or $37 a month billed yearly. There's no free trial, but there is a 15-day money-back guarantee.
Does Nautis create pitch decks from a business plan?
No. Nautis has a Pitch Deck Analyzer that reviews a PDF you upload and scores it, but you build the slides in another tool. Upmetrics generates a deck from your plan.
Can Nautis connect to QuickBooks or Xero for plan vs actuals?
The Business Plans and Financial Planner guides don't describe that connection. Upmetrics lists QuickBooks Online and Xero sync for live plan-vs-actuals. Nautis does connect many apps through a managed catalog, so check for your specific need.
