Set up your Chief of Staff (Liftoff)
What it does
Liftoff is the short setup you see on the dashboard the first time you open Nautis. In four steps it teaches Nautis about your startup and connects the tools your Chief of Staff needs:
- Your startup — you give us your website, your pitch deck, or both. Nautis reads them in the background, searches the web for your company's public profiles, fills in your company profile and writes your Company Brief.
- Your tools — you connect your calendar and email (Google or Microsoft) right from the dashboard, so your Chief of Staff can book meetings and handle email for you.
- Review — you check what Nautis learned, with the source of every detail, and fix anything that's wrong.
- Meet your Chief of Staff — your Chief of Staff sends its first message, with three things it can help with this week.
It takes about four minutes, and you never have to type your company in by hand.
Who can use it
- The workspace owner — the person who created the organization. Team members you invite don't see Liftoff.
- Startup workspaces. It opens by itself for new workspaces; any owner can open it at any time.
Where to find it
- Automatically — it opens the first time you land on the dashboard after signing up.
- From the dashboard card — a Let Nautis set up your company card appears at the top of the dashboard until setup is done (for older workspaces, while your profile, calendar, email or Brand Kit still has gaps). If you closed Liftoff with Finish later, the card says Finish setting up your Chief of Staff — click Continue to pick up where you left off.
- From your startup profile — click Autofill from website or deck at the top of your profile.
- From the Brand Kit — when you have no brand kit yet, click Import from your website.
- From the setup checklist — open Let Nautis set up your company and click Start.
- By asking your Chief of Staff — say "set me up from my website" or "fill my profile from my deck".
- Directly — go to
/dashboard?liftoff=start.
Tell Nautis about your startup
- Check Company name. It comes from your sign-up — if it's wrong, fix it here and your workspace is renamed when you press Start.
- In Website, check the address. If you signed up with a company email, it's already filled in from your email domain — change it if it's wrong.
- Optionally, drop your pitch deck (PDF, up to 50 MB) into Pitch deck and choose your Product stage.
- Click Start. The analysis runs in the background, so you can move straight on.
- No website or deck yet? Click I don't have either yet, describe your startup in a sentence or two, and click Start.
Connect your calendar and email
- Choose the accounts you already use:
- Google Workspace — click Connect next to Google Calendar, sign in, then click Connect next to Gmail. Google asks separately for each one.
- Microsoft — click Connect next to Outlook. One sign-in covers both mail and calendar.
- A small window opens for the sign-in and closes itself when you're done. On a phone, you're taken to the sign-in page and brought back afterwards.
- While you connect, the panel on the right shows what Nautis is finding — facts from your website, your deck score and your public profiles.
- A calendar is required. Once one is connected, click Continue.
Review what Nautis learned
- At the top, check your Company name, Country, Currency, Company type, Company email, Phone and Address. They come from your website (its contact and legal pages) or your location — change anything that's wrong. Changing the name renames your workspace. These details also fill your Organization settings, Invoice settings and HR settings wherever those are still empty.
- Under Your brand, check the logo, colors, fonts, images and voice Nautis found on your website. Click anything that's wrong to leave it out. The rest becomes your Brand Kit (if you already have one, only its empty sections are filled), and your logo goes on your invoices, HR documents and startup profile. Tick Also use my primary color as the accent color in Nautis if you want the app in your brand color.
- Each detail below shows where it came from: Website, Deck, Online or You.
- Click the pencil next to any detail to change it.
- Under Is this your team?, tick the people to add to your startup profile. People from your own website start ticked; people found in public search results start unticked.
- Under Products & pricing, untick anything you don't want added to your profile.
- Under Found online — is this you?, click Yes for profiles that are yours and Not us for ones that aren't. Profiles linked from your own website are added automatically.
- Under What your Chief of Staff will remember, remove anything that isn't true — for example numbers from a demo on your website.
- Click Looks right. What you confirm becomes verified memory for your Chief of Staff.
Meet your Chief of Staff
- Read your Chief of Staff's first message.
- Under I've prepared these for you, tick what you want set up and click Set these up:
- Your booking link — an "Intro call · 30 min" page, Monday to Friday 9–5, that people use to book time on your calendar. Click Copy to share it.
- Monthly investor update (fundraising workspaces) — your Chief of Staff drafts an investor update every month for you to review.
- "Getting started" Task Board — your next steps as tasks, from the gaps in your profile and your deck.
- Fundraising data room (if you uploaded a deck) — a data room with your deck already in it.
- Under Invite your team, type a teammate's email and click Invite to send them an invitation to your workspace.
- Click one of your Chief of Staff's suggestions to start a chat about it, or click Go to dashboard.
Tips & limits
- Nothing is ever sent or booked without your approval. Every email your Chief of Staff wants to send shows a preview you can edit first.
- Your Chief of Staff never deletes emails or calendar events.
- You can disconnect any account at any time from Integrations.
- Nautis reads up to 10 public pages of your website — about, team, contact, product, pricing and legal pages.
- The web search looks for your company and the people publicly listed as its founders or directors (news, startup databases, company registries). It never opens LinkedIn profiles, and nobody is added to your team until you tick them in Review.
- Deck analysis uses your workspace's AI credits, the same as uploading a deck in Pitch Decks.
- The website analysis works best on your homepage. Some sites block automated reading; if that happens, add your details in Review or your profile instead.
Frequently asked questions
What does Nautis look at on my website?
Only the public page you give us. We read its text and the social links on it, and never log in anywhere.
Why do I need to connect a calendar?
Your Chief of Staff needs your calendar to find free time, avoid clashes and book the meetings you approve. Without it, it can only suggest times.
I closed Liftoff. How do I get it back?
Use the Set up your Chief of Staff card at the top of the dashboard, or go to /dashboard?liftoff=start.
The web search found a company that isn't mine.
Click Not us in the Review step. It won't be added to your profile or your Chief of Staff's memory.
