What it does
Your daily Founder Briefing — what changed, what's blocked, and what needs you today. Every morning, Nautis scans your whole workspace (tasks, pipeline, runway, meetings, approvals, invoices, wellbeing signals, and more), ranks what matters most, and presents it as one prioritized list with a one-sentence headline. It's also home to the Approval Center, where you review any action your AI agents want to take, and the Autonomy settings that decide what agents may do without asking.
Who can use it
- Anyone in your organization with read permission for the Chief of Staff module can view briefings.
- Update permission is needed to act on briefing items (done, snooze, dismiss).
- Only organization Owners and Admins can approve or reject agent actions and change the Autonomy settings.
Where to find it
Click Chief of Staff near the top of the sidebar (right under Dashboard). A condensed Today's briefing card also sits at the top of your Dashboard — click View on it to open the full page.
Read your daily briefing
- Open the Briefing tab. The headline card summarizes your day in one sentence; click Listen to hear a spoken version.
- Items are grouped into sections in priority order: Priorities, Blockers, Approvals, Pipeline, Today (meetings and calendar), and Runway. Each item shows a severity pill (Critical or Attention) and opens its source module when clicked.
- The left rail's At a glance panel shows your runway (with the change since your last check-in), pending approvals, and Today's mix — how the day breaks down across priorities, blockers, pipeline, and calendar.
- A new briefing is generated automatically every morning at 7:00 am in your organization's timezone. Click Refresh any time to regenerate it with the latest data.
Act on a briefing item
Each item has quick actions:
- Do it — appears on items with an executable action (for example, "Send reminder" on an overdue invoice). If you're an owner or admin, your tap approves and runs the action immediately; otherwise it's queued in the Approval Center for an admin.
- Ask Commodore — hands the item to the built-in chat with full context so you can dig in.
- Mark done — clears the item and teaches the engine it mattered to you.
- Snooze until tomorrow — hides it until the next briefing.
- Dismiss — hides it and keeps it from resurfacing for two weeks.
Every done/snooze/dismiss quietly tunes what future briefings prioritize.
Chat with your Chief of Staff
Click Chat in the header to open "Chat with your Chief of Staff" — ask anything, and it routes across the company ("What's blocking the raise?", "Summarize this week's pipeline movement"). On smaller screens the chat opens as an overlay.
Review agent approvals
- Open the Approvals tab — the Approval Center. Anything your AI agents want to do on your behalf waits here; the tab badge shows the pending count.
- Each card shows which agent asked, when, what the action is, and a plain-language summary. Click Show details to inspect exactly what would be sent or changed.
- Owners and admins can:
- Approve — confirms with "Your agent will execute this action now. This can have real effects." then runs it.
- Reject — declines the action.
- Cancel request — withdraws it (anyone can cancel).
- Use the Pending / All toggle to see history: Approved, Rejected, Cancelled, and Expired requests. Unattended requests expire on their own.
Set agent autonomy (admins)
- Open the Autonomy tab (visible to Owners/Admins only).
- Under Agent autonomy, each agent capability has a dropdown with two choices:
- Ask every time — the action always routes to the Approvals tab (background agents) or shows a confirmation card (chat).
- Auto-run (no approval) — the agent may run it on its own. Capabilities are labeled External (touches the outside world) or Internal (stays inside Nautis). Every action — automatic or approved — is audit-logged.
- Below it, What matters most right now holds six priority sliders that shape tomorrow's briefing: Revenue at risk, Runway & burn, Deals & fundraising, Team health, Marketing & brand, and Everything else. Set each from Lower to Top of mind and click Save — "Priorities saved — tomorrow's briefing will use them." The weights also learn automatically from your done/snooze/dismiss decisions.
Browse past briefings
Open the History tab for the full trail of daily briefings, plus Weekly digests (generated Monday mornings) and Evening debriefs if your organization has them enabled. Click any entry to read it exactly as it was that day.
Manage the dashboard hero card
On your Dashboard, the Today's briefing card shows the headline, your runway, a "needs approval" chip, and the top four items. Use the chevron to collapse it, the refresh icon to regenerate, or X to hide it — a slim bar with a Show button remains so you can bring it back. These preferences are remembered per browser.
Tips & limits
- The briefing is generated once each morning and cached — the same list stays all day unless you hit Refresh.
- Owners and admins get a "Your morning briefing is ready" notification (and an email, controlled by the weekly-digest email preference) when the briefing has anything notable.
- Items you mark done, snooze, or dismiss disappear from today's view but stay intact in History.
- Briefing generation uses a very small amount of AI credits (just the headline sentence). If credits run out, the briefing still generates with a plain fallback headline — your items are unaffected. The voice playback and chat use their own credits.
- Priority-weight changes apply from tomorrow's briefing onward.
- The evening debrief (5:00 pm local, "what moved today, what's first tomorrow") is off by default — ask your workspace admin to enable it.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the briefing get its information?
From across your workspace: task boards, leads pipeline, today's meetings, runway from Startup Health, pending agent approvals, overdue invoices, burnout check-ins, fundraising signals, meeting action items, decision reviews, and more. Sources that have no data are simply skipped.
Can agents do things without my permission?
Not unless you explicitly allow it. Everything defaults to Ask every time and lands in the Approval Center. The sidebar says it plainly: "Nothing acts without your approval." Even actions you set to auto-run are fully audit-logged.
What's the difference between "Do it" and approving in the Approval Center?
They're the same pipeline. "Do it" on a briefing item creates the approval request — and if you're an owner/admin, your tap is the approval, so it runs immediately. For everyone else it queues in the Approval Center.
Why do two people see the same briefing?
The briefing is per-organization — it's the company's day, not a personal to-do list. Your done/snooze/dismiss actions update it for everyone.
The page says "Assembling your briefing…" — how long does that take?
Usually well under a minute; the page updates itself when it's ready. If generation fails you'll get a Try again button — your data is untouched.
What's in the weekly digest?
A Monday-morning "last week / week ahead" summary. It's archived in the History tab with a "Weekly" label, and owners/admins are notified when it's ready.
It says "You're all caught up." Is that right?
Yes — it means nothing urgent surfaced across your company right now. New priorities, blockers, and approvals appear as they come up.
