What it does
The Fundraising CRM is your dedicated pipeline for raising money. You create a round for each fundraise (Seed, Series A, bridge), add investors as deals, and move them through stages from first contact to committed capital. Each deal keeps notes, meetings, comments, files, and a full activity log in one place.
Who can use it
- Anyone with read access to the Investor CRM module can view rounds and deals.
- Creating rounds and deals needs create permission and a verified email.
- Shared access can be granted per round, so you can keep sensitive deals limited to a small group.
- The Investor CRM must be enabled on your plan.
Where to find it
From the sidebar, open Fundraising and click Fundraising CRM.
Create a fundraising round
- Click Create Round in the top right. (If this is your first round, click Create Your First Round in the empty state.)
- The Create New Round dialog opens. Fill in:
- Round Name (required) — for example "Series A Round 2025" or "Partnership Opportunities".
- Description — a few lines about who this round is for.
- Funding Round Type — pick from Seed, Series A, Series B, bridge, and so on. This labels the round for reports.
- Fundraise Target — choose the currency and enter the amount you're raising. The round card will show a progress bar towards this goal.
- Pre-Money Valuation — your valuation, or the valuation cap if you're using SAFEs or convertible notes.
- Default Round — toggle on if new deals should drop into this round by default.
- Shared Access — pick which teammates can see this round. Leave empty to keep it to yourself plus admins.
- Click Create Round. Nautis creates a set of default stages (for example, Lead, Contacted, Meeting, Term Sheet, Committed, Passed) — you can customize them later.
Read the rounds dashboard
Each round card on the Fundraising CRM page shows:
- The round name and any Default badge.
- A Deals count, Committed count, Passed count, and total Raised (rolled up in USD).
- A target-progress bar with the percentage committed. If you exceed the goal, you'll see an Oversubscribed badge.
- The pre-money valuation, when set.
- Who created the round and when.
Click anywhere on a card to open that round.
Use the small Lock icon on a card to Close a round (no new deals can be added). The icon turns into an Unlock so you can reopen it later. Use the Pencil icon to edit round details.
Add investors to a round
There are two ways to add a deal.
From Find Investors
- Open Find Investors, click an investor to open their profile, and click Add to Pipeline. See the Find Investors guide for the full flow.
- The deal form pre-fills name, type, check size, website, LinkedIn, and a description from the investor's profile.
Directly inside a round
- Open the round.
- Click the Create Deal button at the top of the board.
- Fill in:
- Investor / firm name (required).
- Source (required) — for example referral, cold outreach, warm intro, accelerator, demo day.
- Investor Type (required) — VC, angel, family office, accelerator, etc.
- Check Size (required) — what you expect them to invest, in the round's currency.
- Lead Partner — the specific partner you're talking to.
- Currency — defaults to the round currency.
- Contact — link an existing contact from your Nautis contacts, optional.
- Description — context, history, or notes that don't belong in a single field.
- Click Create Deal. The new deal lands in the first stage of the round.
Move deals through stages
The round page shows a Kanban board with a column for each stage.
- Drag and drop a deal card from one column to the next as your conversation progresses.
- Click a card to open the deal detail panel.
- Use the column header to see how many deals and how much committed value sits in each stage.
To rename, reorder, add, or remove stages, open the round's Manage Stages option from the header actions. Mark a stage as Won (committed) or Lost (passed) so it counts towards the round's totals correctly.
Work a deal
Click a deal to slide open the deal detail panel. Across the top, you'll see tabs:
- Details — stage, source, investor type, check size, currency, lead partner, description, and any custom fields. The AI Outreach Draft button at the top can generate a tailored opener you can copy.
- Notes — add private notes about the conversation, decisions, or next steps.
- Activity — a chronological log of stage changes, emails, calls, meetings, and edits.
- Meetings — schedule a meeting linked to this deal so it shows up in the Nautis calendar.
- Comments — discuss the deal with teammates who share access.
- Files — attach pitch decks, term sheets, data room links, NDAs, and other documents.
Edit the deal at any time with the Edit button at the top of the panel. The Stage can be changed in-place from the panel header.
Track meetings and outreach
- Use the Meetings tab on a deal to record upcoming or past calls. Meetings show up on the Nautis calendar.
- Use the Activity tab to scan everything that's happened — including emails sent and stage transitions.
- Use the AI Outreach Draft button on the Details tab when you want a starting point for a first email or follow-up.
Close or reopen a round
- On the Fundraising CRM page, hover the round card.
- Click the Lock icon to close the round, or the Unlock icon to reopen one.
- Confirm in the dialog. Closed rounds keep all their data but block new deals.
Tips & limits
- Set a default round to keep most-used round at the top of the funnel for one-click adding.
- Use the Shared Access setting to keep a stealth round private while still showing other rounds to the whole team.
- Pipeline totals roll up to USD automatically so you can compare across deals in different currencies.
- The progress bar turns green and shows Oversubscribed when committed dollars exceed the target — handy when you're closing.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a round and a deal?
A round is the fundraise itself (for example, your Series A). A deal is one investor inside that round. One round usually has many deals.
Can I move a deal between rounds?
Edit the deal and change its round, or use the deal detail panel actions. The activity log keeps a record of the move.
Does Nautis send emails to investors automatically?
No. Nautis logs your outreach and can draft messages, but you send everything through your normal email tool. The activity tab records what happened.
What happens when a deal is marked won?
The check size counts towards the round's Raised total and the target-progress bar. Closed-won deals stay in their final stage and can still be opened for reference.
Who can see a private round?
The creator, anyone listed under Shared Access for that round, and organization admins.
