Integrations

4 min readUpdated

What it does

Connect the outside tools your company runs on — Slack, Notion, Linear, GitHub, Gmail, and 1,000+ more — so your Nautis AI agents can act in them: post a Slack message, create a Linear issue, read a Notion page. Authentication is fully managed — you sign in on the provider's own screen and Nautis never sees your password.

Two separate switches keep you in control:

  1. Connecting an app stores the authorization so Nautis can talk to it — but agents still can't touch it.
  2. Enabling it for agents is a second, deliberate step. And even then, any action that writes or sends something still asks for your approval each time.

Who can use it

  • Anyone with read permission for the Integrations module can browse the catalog and see what's connected.
  • Only organization Owners and Admins can connect, disconnect, or enable apps for agents.
  • Connections are organization-level — one connected Slack serves the whole workspace.

Where to find it

Click your avatar in the top-right corner and choose Integrations from the menu.

Step by step

Connect an app

  1. Browse the catalog — featured tools (Slack, Linear, Notion, GitHub) are highlighted, and the search box ("Search toolkits (e.g. Gmail, HubSpot, Jira)…") covers the full 1,000+ catalog. Sort by Popular or A–Z; more tools load as you scroll.
  2. Hover a tool and click Connect. You're redirected to the provider's own sign-in and consent screen.
  3. Approve access there. You land back in Nautis with a "App connected." toast and the tool's detail pane open.
  4. A dialog asks "Allow agents to use App?" — "It's connected. Enable it for agents so the AI copilot can act in it. Sending or writing always asks for your approval first." Choose Enable for agents or Not now. You can change this any time from the tool's page.

Status dots on cards and in the left rail show each connection's state: Connected (green), Connecting… (amber, click Finish/Continue to complete an interrupted flow), Error, or Expired (click Reconnect).

Step by step

Control what agents may use

Open any connected tool to its detail pane:

  • Agent access — the master switch: "Allow the copilot to use this tool. Writes still require your approval each time." Tools enabled for agents show a shield icon in the connected rail.
  • Available actions — every action the tool exposes, each tagged Read (runs without a prompt) or Write (always approval-gated). Admins can toggle individual actions on or off — a per-action setting overrides the master switch, so you can, say, enable Slack but allow only message-reading.
  • Permissions it can request — the OAuth scopes the integration may use, listed in plain chips.

Until you enable a tool for agents, connecting it changes nothing about what agents can do.

Step by step

Manage accounts

An organization can connect several accounts of the same app (for example, two Slack workspaces). In the tool's Connected accounts card:

  • Add account — connect another account of the same app.
  • Make primary — agents always act through the primary account (marked with a star).
  • Click the pencil to rename an account label so teammates know which is which.
  • Reconnect — re-run the sign-in for an expired or errored account.
Step by step

Disconnect an app

  1. Click the trash icon on the account row.
  2. Confirm in the Disconnect App? dialog: "Agents will no longer be able to use this tool. You can reconnect it at any time. This does not delete anything in the tool itself."

Tips & limits

  • Connecting ≠ agent access. The catalog says it best: "Connecting is one click; letting an agent act is a separate, approval-gated step." Three layers protect you: connect → enable for agents → per-use approval on every write.
  • Approval requests from agent actions appear in the Approval Center (Chief of Staff → Approvals tab).
  • Nautis doesn't sync or copy data from connected tools — agents call actions on demand, and nothing is mirrored into Nautis.
  • Non-admins can browse everything, but Connect buttons and switches are disabled for them.
  • If you see "External tools aren't available yet", the integration service isn't configured for your workspace yet — contact support. A softer "showing featured tools" banner just means the full catalog is temporarily unreachable; the featured four still work.

Frequently asked questions

Does Nautis see my password for these tools?

No. You authenticate on the provider's own hosted sign-in page. Nautis receives a managed access token, never your credentials, and tokens are stored encrypted and never exposed.

I connected Slack — why isn't the copilot using it?

Connecting is only step one. Open the tool's page and turn on Agent access (or use the Enable for agents prompt right after connecting). Agents can't use any tool that hasn't been explicitly enabled.

Will an agent send messages without asking me?

No. Write actions — sending, creating, deleting — always request your approval first, even on agent-enabled tools. Only read actions run without a prompt.

A connection shows "Expired". What do I do?

Click Reconnect on the account row and sign in again. It re-authorizes the same connection — nothing else changes.

Can I connect two Slack workspaces?

Yes. Use Add account on the tool's page. Agents act through whichever account is marked Primary; switch it any time with Make primary.

If I disconnect a tool, does anything get deleted in it?

No. Disconnecting only removes Nautis's access — "This does not delete anything in the tool itself." You can reconnect whenever you like.

Who can set this up?

Organization Owners and Admins. Everyone else can view the catalog and connection status but can't connect or change agent access.
