Find Investors

5 min readUpdated

What it does

Find Investors is your searchable directory of venture capital firms, angels, and other backers inside Nautis. You can filter by stage, sector, geography, and check size, open a full profile, see a match score against your company, and add a promising investor straight into your fundraising pipeline.

Who can use it

  • Anyone with read access to the Investors module can browse and view profiles.
  • Adding an investor to a fundraising pipeline needs create permission on the Investor CRM module.
  • The Investors module must be enabled on your plan.

Where to find it

From the sidebar, open Fundraising and click Find Investors.

Step by step

Browse the directory

  1. The results grid (or table on wider screens) lists each investor with their logo, name, country, a short description, the sectors they back, the rounds they typically join, and their average check size.
  2. Each investor card may show a % match badge next to their name. This is how closely they line up with your company profile based on stage, industry, geography, and check size.
  3. Scroll down — new results load automatically once you reach the bottom of the page. When you see "You have reached the end of the results.", that's everyone matching your filters.
Step by step

Search and filter

The left-hand Filters panel is where you narrow the list down.

  1. Type a name or keyword into Search Investors and press Enter.
  2. Pick an Investor Type from the dropdown (the options come from your workspace's collection types — for example angel, VC, family office, accelerator). Choose All types to clear it.
  3. Set Ticket Size using the two dropdowns (min and max). The presets jump in standard rungs from $5K to $1B. Pick Any to ignore that side.
  4. Expand any of the sections below to multi-select:
    • Investment Stages — seed, Series A, growth, etc.
    • Investment Mechanisms — equity, SAFE, convertible notes, debt, grants.
    • Industries — the sectors the investor focuses on.
    • Technologies — specific tech themes they back.
    • Operating Countries — where the investor is active.

Each section has its own search box if the list is long. Click an option to add it; click again to remove it. The numbered badge next to the section title shows how many filters are active there.

Filters update the results immediately and stay in the URL, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view.

To start over, click Clear all at the top of the panel.

On smaller screens, tap Filters in the page header to show the panel.

Step by step

View an investor profile

  1. Click anywhere on the investor's logo or name in the list.
  2. A side panel slides in with the full profile:
    • About — the investor's description.
    • Investment Focus — check size, stages, mechanisms, industries, and technologies they back.
    • Match Score — your match percentage, with a breakdown of how each factor contributes.
    • Contact — buttons to Visit Website and open their LinkedIn, plus their head-office location.
    • Operating Countries — every country they invest in.
  3. Close the panel with the X or by clicking outside it.
Step by step

Add an investor to your pipeline

  1. Open the investor's profile panel.
  2. Click Add to Pipeline in the top right of the panel.
  3. If you only have one fundraising round, Nautis jumps straight to the Create Deal dialog.
  4. If you have several rounds, the Select Fundraising Round dialog opens — click the round you want to add this investor to.
  5. The deal form is pre-filled with the investor's name, type, average check size, website, LinkedIn, and a clean description. Adjust the fields, set the source (referral, cold outreach, warm intro, and so on), and click Create Deal.
  6. You'll get a toast confirming the investor has been added to that round.

If you haven't set up a fundraising round yet, the dialog will tell you. Create one in the Fundraising CRM first.

Step by step

Contact an investor

Nautis doesn't send messages directly from the directory — it gives you the links you need.

  • Click Visit Website in the side panel to open the firm's site.
  • Click LinkedIn to open their LinkedIn page.
  • Use the Crunchbase and Twitter icons on the result row when they're available.

When you're ready to track outreach, add the investor to your pipeline (see above). From there you can log emails, calls, meetings, notes, and attached documents in the deal record.

Tips & limits

  • The % match badge is a guide, not a guarantee. Treat low scores as a starting point — sometimes an unusual fit is exactly what you need.
  • Filters combine with AND across categories but OR within a category. For example, picking "Seed" and "Series A" shows investors who do either; adding "FinTech" shows investors who do (Seed OR Series A) AND FinTech.
  • The directory is shared across all Nautis users. Your filters, favourites, and notes stay private to your organization.
  • Investor links open in a new tab. Always sanity-check the firm's current website before reaching out.

Frequently asked questions

Why does an investor I expected not show up?

Most often it's a filter — particularly Investor Type or Ticket Size. Click Clear all in the filters panel and try the search again.

Can I save an investor for later without adding them to a pipeline?

Adding them to a pipeline is the way Nautis tracks investors you're interested in. Create a "Watchlist" or "Long list" round if you want a holding place separate from your active fundraise.

How is the match score calculated?

It scores each investor against your company profile across stage, industry, geography, and check size. Open the profile panel to see the breakdown per factor.

Where do the filter options come from?

Investor types, stages, mechanisms, industries, technologies, and countries are managed centrally for the whole Nautis directory. New options appear automatically as the directory grows.

Can I export the list?

Not from this page. Once investors are in a pipeline, you can manage and export from the Fundraising CRM.
