Investor Readiness

5 min readUpdated

What it does

One go/no-go answer to "are we ready to raise?" — judged against the round you are actually raising. Nautis reads the signals you already have across the platform (pitch deck, data room, financials, traction, investor pipeline, investor fit, team & story, and your round terms in Raise HQ), scores each against what investors expect at your stage, and turns the result into a ranked action plan you can push straight to your Task Board. It is read-only: it never changes anything in your other modules.

Who can use it

  • Anyone with read permission for the Investor Readiness module can see the report.
  • Update permission is needed to recompute, change the benchmark stage or weights, act on gaps (Task Board / not applicable), generate the AI investor read, or save objection answers.
  • Only the AI investor read spends AI credits. Scores, recomputes and the nightly refresh are free.

Where to find it

From the sidebar, open Fundraising and click Investor Readiness. The page has a section list on the left (Overview, Action plan, Categories, Investor lens, Trend). On a phone, pick a section to open it and use Back to return.

Step by step

Read your Overview

  1. The score ring shows your 0–100 score and one of three verdicts:
    • Ready to raise — 75+ with no critical gaps.
    • Almost there — 50–74.
    • Not yet — below 50, or a critical asset is missing.
  2. Next to the verdict is the stage bar you are judged against (Pre-seed, Seed, Series A, Series B+). Nautis detects it from your active round in Raise HQ, then your company profile, then your analyzed deck. If it is wrong, change it under Benchmark & weights (the sliders icon).
  3. Raise window tells you when: your runway, how long a raise at your stage typically takes plus a safety reserve, and the date by which outreach should start. On track, Start now or Runway short. If it says Unknown, log cash and burn in Startup Health.
  4. Do this next lists the three gaps worth the most points right now.
  5. Score drivers shows all eight categories with their weight; tap one to open its detail.

Work the Action plan

  1. Open Action plan. Gaps are ranked critical-first, then by "up to +N pts" — the estimated lift to your overall score if you close that gap. Filter by Critical, Quick wins (under an hour) or On Task Board.
  2. For each gap you can:
    • Fix it — opens the exact module page.
    • Add to Task Board — creates a task (due in 14 days, assigned to you) on an "Investor readiness" board Nautis creates the first time. The gap then shows On your Task Board.
    • Ask AI — opens the Chief of Staff chat beside the page with the gap already sent.
    • Not applicable to us (⋯ menu) — removes the gap from your plan and verdict, with an optional reason. Dismissed gaps stay listed at the bottom and can be restored.
  3. When you have done the work, click Recompute in the left panel. Nautis also recomputes nightly.

Understand a Category

Open Categories (it starts on your weakest one). Each card shows the stage bar ("what investors expect at Seed"), every signal measured with a status dot, the gaps that belong to that category, and a small trend line.

Category What it measures
Pitch Deck Best analyzed deck score, weak or missing sections, whether the investor Q&A drill is generated, freshness, link to your round
Financials & Runway Runway vs. the stage target, how recent your check-in is, a financial model, use of funds
Traction & Growth MRR and month-over-month growth against the stage bar (pre-revenue is fine at pre-seed), investor updates sent
The Ask & Round Terms Active round, target amount, instrument, valuation/cap, close date, minimum cheque, cap table
Data Room The stage's diligence document list, matched by file or folder name
Investor Pipeline Active conversations vs. the stage target, share of warm intros, conversations going cold
Investor Fit Targeting profile completeness, investor matches scoring 70+, best match
Team & Story Narrative fields, team with bios/LinkedIn, advisors, business plan

The Investor lens

  1. Click Generate (uses AI credits). You get target segments, likely objections (each with the reason an investor would raise it) and proof points to assemble.
  2. Under each objection click Prepare an answer, write your answer with the evidence you will point to, and Save. Ask AI opens the Chief of Staff chat beside the page to draft it from your data. The header shows how many answers you have prepared.
  3. The diligence checklist below lists exactly which documents investors ask for at your stage and which are found in your data rooms.
Step by step

Change the benchmark or weights

  1. Click the sliders icon next to Recompute.
  2. Benchmark stage: leave on Auto-detect or pick the round you are raising.
  3. Weights: each stage has sensible defaults (pre-seed leans on team & story, Series A on traction & financials). Drag sliders to customise — the total must be 100 — or click Use stage defaults.
  4. Save. Your score recomputes immediately.

Track your Trend

Trend plots your overall score (reference lines at Ready 75 and Almost 50) and lists every category with its change since your last check and since your first. Tap a row to open that category.

Where else it shows up

  • Mission Control (dashboard) has an Investor readiness card with the same score, stage, raise window and top three gaps — it always matches this page.
  • Raise HQ shows your readiness in the round's rail.
  • Chief of Staff can read your readiness (get_investor_readiness) and the Investor Readiness Pulse routine turns the biggest gap into a monthly task.

Tips & limits

  • The score only sees what is in Nautis. Upload and analyze the deck, log health check-ins, set up the round in Raise HQ and track investors in the CRM to get an honest reading.
  • "Up to +N pts" is an estimate of the category lift; closing several gaps in one category will not add up linearly.
  • Recompute is rate-limited to 10 runs per hour per organization.
  • A plain Recompute keeps your existing AI investor read; Regenerate in the Investor lens refreshes it (credits).
  • Name data-room folders and files recognisably so documents are detected.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my score change when I changed the stage?

Every threshold — runway, revenue, pipeline size, documents — and the default weights depend on the stage. A pre-revenue company is fine at pre-seed and a problem at Series A.

Does "Ready to raise" mean investors will say yes?

No. It means your fundraising fundamentals clear the bar for that stage. It is a preparedness check, not a prediction.

I dismissed a gap by mistake.

Open Action plan, expand marked not applicable at the bottom and click Restore.

Where do the tasks go?

To a Task Board called "Investor readiness" (created on first use). The On Task Board stat in the Action plan links to it.
